One of the key elements in the safe and sustainable use of a pesticide is to evaluate how likely it is that the environment may be impacted as a result of exposure to the pesticide, this requires carrying out an ecological risk assesment. An ecological risk assessment includes several phases:

  • Planning
  • Problem formulation
  • Analysis
  • Risk characterisation
  • Risk management

These five major phases, together with international approaches to ecological risk assessment, will be discussed in detail during the Ecological Risk Assessment Workshop. Leading experts in risk assessment will conduct the Workshop and time will be allowed for networking opportunities between the speakers and Workshop participants. In addition, it is intended that there will be an opportunity for a practical session using risk assessment models.
